10 traditional-style pubs in Warsaw to get pissed in!

With so many fashionable multi-tap, wine, and cocktail bars, sometimes it’s comforting to drink in traditional-style pubs in Warsaw. With good ones becoming a dying breed, we have listed a few of our favorite traditional-style pubs worth a visit for a drunken night to remember!

WarSaw Pub – Old Town

Wąski Dunaj 10

When in the Old town then make sure to visit this place with its traditional pub feel. From the outside, it looks tiny but enter and you will be amazed! Split into 2 levels, the lower part kicks off most evenings with karaoke, and for people who prefer something sporty before the serious drinking begins, on the upper level, there are pool tables, darts, table football and other social games. WarSaw Pub is not only karaoke and sports though! In the summer, spend a romantic time in the garden among beautiful Old Town tenement houses. English-speaking bartender Szymon serves some of the best drinks in town. His Dirty Dancing and Sunny Pineapple cocktails are famous! We recommend you check out his Mojito. It’s the real deal! Not to be missed when in the Old Town.

CześćCity Center

Grzybowska 2

An awesome little pub for those in the know and one of the city’s best-kept secrets. Due to the fact that it’s tucked away in a dark passageway between office blocks on the edge of Pl. Grzybowski, even looking for it is a bit like searching for the Holy Grail. A basic interior, eight beer taps, a vast range of bottled beers and ciders, and a barman whose knowledge of beer will blow you away! It’s also very popular with ex-pat beer drinkers and a great place to pop in for a drink and a chat with strangers in English and leave best friends!

Elephant Belgian PubOld Town

ul.Freta 19

22 beer taps pouring Belgian gold, including Trappist beer – the only place in Poland (and one of only a small group around the world) selling it! As if that wasn’t enough they also have an aquarium-like cold store containing over 280 Belgian bottled beers! Nothing fancy here, just a truly traditional-looking pub with quality beer. It’s also well worth having a chat with the owner who has an encyclopedic knowledge regarding the whole Belgian brewing industry. Steaks, burgers, fries and a serious cheese plate plus football matches on huge screens. Perfect!

Małe Piwo – City Center

Oleandrów 4

Małe Piwo is a one-of-a-kind water house offering 6 nozzles with beers from small, regional breweries: Pinta, Ale Browar, Amber, Dionizos, Kormoran, Jabłonowo, Południe, Zamkowy, Koreb, Gościszewo, Fortuna, Jagiełło, Krajan, Witnica and others. In addition, original snacks – smoked squids, dried fish and seafood, rusks, peanuts, breadsticks, bread with lard, and excellent Polish cheeses. It’s hipster but still holds a traditional pub feel.

W Oparach Absurdu – Praga

Ząbkowska 6

W Oparach Absurdu” is a unique place. Among your great grandparent’s furniture and live music on weekends, the magic lies in the relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. A large selection of beers, a unique bohemian climate combined with friendly service makes you appreciate just how cool this place is. When in Praga, it’s a must-visit.

Irish PubOld Town

ul. Miodowa 3

Welcome to the Irish pub in Warsaw, which is currently the longest-running pub in the city. They opened in 1991, and still offer the best Guinness in town. Expect live concerts, football matches, and stand-up. No self-respecting Irishman would leave this place before getting shitfaced!
