Having searched for the best barbers in Warsaw, Lisbon barbers in Tamka Street easily come in our Top 5. With a unique Portuguese atmosphere and fados playing in the background, you cannot be anything but impressed. We met up with owner Tiago.
Hi Tiago. So when did you open?
Spring 2018
I’m guessing you are from Lisbon?
I’m from the Azores which is a volcanic island in the North Atlantic but I lived in Lisbon for many years.
Polish girlfriend?
Hahaha. Sure. A beautiful kid also 🙂
Do you remember your first-ever haircut?
I was 16 years old and I used to cut my friend’s hair in my garage at home back in Azores. We were experimenting. I remember I used to play football in the 2nd division and I used to cut all the hair of the guys in the locker room also.
So your team had the most stylish haircuts, right?
Hahaha. Im not sure about that. I was still experimenting in those days remember?
Did you charge them?
Nooo. It was free!
Then what?
I went through some shitty jobs when we moved to Lisbon until one day my dad suggested I try going to barber school. He remembered I like to cut hair.
You met your girlfrend in Lisbon?
I met her while on my barber course. She was on holiday for 3 days in Lisbon and it was love at first sight 🙂 She was different from Portuguese girls.
What was your pickup line?
Hahaha. There were a few of them sitting on some stairs and I was walking past with a friend. He is a hunter let’s say and he went up to them to talk and I just went along for the ride.
She returned to Poland and you followed?
Definitely. I missed her so much that I decided to not even finish my barber course. I left 2 months early but the school still awarded me the certificate. I was that good 🙂
You had the plan to open a barber shop?
Sure. It was the plan but I didn’t have the money. I found a place though and I borrowed some money from my father. I’m still paying him back.
Have you ever screwed up a haircut?
Hahaha. Sure. Every barber has! But we always find a way to cover it up somehow.
Who does your hair?
Miguel. Only he can touch my hair!
Favorite barber?
Where are your barber chairs from?
One of them is at least 70 years old and from Lisbon. I was very lucky to find it!
Polish language?
It’s shit but I’m working on it 🙂
Favorite swear word?
The first I learned and still the best…kurwa mać 🙂
