The little girl, confined to her bed due to her disabilities, endured a slow and agonizing death, unable to cry out for help. She was entirely at the mercy of her mother, who, instead of providing care, subjected her to unimaginable neglect.
Emilka passed away during the night of August 1-2 in her home. For this young girl, the four walls of her room were her entire world—witnesses to the silent torment she endured. Despite the efforts of emergency services, who were alerted by a friend of Emilka’s mother, it was too late to save her.
The investigation revealed that Emilka was severely malnourished and exhausted. Born with multiple health conditions, she was unable to walk or speak and was entirely dependent on her mother, Klaudia G. (25), who was in the midst of a divorce from the child’s father.
Klaudia G. has since been charged with neglect and unintentional manslaughter. She admitted to her role in her daughter’s death and has been temporarily detained for three months.
Initial autopsy results released on August 19 revealed that Emilka’s death was due to complications from a severe neurological condition, which had caused significant deterioration of her body. Investigators ruled out any mechanical injuries, such as physical abuse.
District Prosecutor Katarzyna Wąsak stated, “This gives us a clearer picture of the situation. We know that no one physically contributed to the child’s death through actions like hitting or choking.”
The investigation continues, with further expert analyses planned to determine the exact cause of Emilka’s death. This tragic case highlights the devastating consequences of neglect and the urgent need for vigilance in protecting vulnerable children.
