Woman Attacked in Broad Daylight in Warsaw: “This is Sick, the Police Did Nothing”

In a shocking incident that took place in broad daylight, Warsaw resident Daria Bambalina was assaulted on the street by a stranger. Daria, who shared a photo of her bruised eye on Instagram, says she was hit in the face by a man for no apparent reason. Even more disturbing for her, however, was the police response—or lack thereof.

The attack occurred on Thursday, September 5, in central Warsaw. According to Daria, the man first attempted to strike her with his bicycle before getting off and hitting her. She also mentioned that the man had a knife on him, but thankfully, it wasn’t used. Despite this, the police reportedly did little to address the situation, saying that no serious harm had been done.

Daria expressed her frustration online, saying, “It’s sick that the police just let him go. They said he didn’t hit me with the knife and he was sober, so he could go home. They didn’t even check his documents properly. Now he’s still walking around the city like nothing happened.”

The 37-year-old man, who Daria believes is from Ukraine and works in construction, reportedly gave the police an address, but Daria suspects it was false, as no such house exists at the location they checked. Authorities have said they are “clarifying” the situation, but Daria and many others are left outraged by the passive response to the assault.
