Yo, we just stumbled on this new gem in Warsaw, Namdemun—a Korean street food spot that’s tucked away on Poznańska 5. You might miss it if you’re not paying attention ‘cause it’s up a flight of stairs, but our curiosity got the better of us. Owned by Oh Han Kwon, a South Korean native who’s been in Poland since 2006, this joint aims to bring serious Seoul vibes with authentic flavors to the Capitol.

the name

Oh Han had his heart set on opening a food spot since day one, and now he’s finally living that dream. The restaurant’s name, Namdemun, pays homage to the iconic southern gate in Seoul which is one of the Eight Gates in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, South Korea. The gate formed the original southern boundary of the city during the Joseon period, although the city has since significantly outgrown this boundary since then.

Inside, the vibe is laid back and super simple, but the food? The menu’s packed with classic Korean dishes like bibimbap—rice, veggies, with a spicy gochujang sauce that should have your taste buds doing backflips. We are told you gotta try the japchae too, those sweet potato noodles are apparently the real deal. If you’re feeling the heat, the jeyuk pokkeum spicy pork will hit the spot. But if you’re more about keeping things mild, they’ve got bulgogi, a soft pork option that looks tasty!

Everything’s made with top-tier ingredients, and they even whip up their kimchi from scratch using a recipe straight from Oh Han’s grandmother. How legit is that?
