Man cuts off his sisters head and escapes jail!

A town just outside of Warsaw, was rocked by an unspeakable horror on November 14, 2023, when 27-year-old Paweł O. committed a crime so brutal that it shocked even seasoned investigators. In a scene reminiscent of a horror movie, Paweł murdered his own sister, 45-year-old Ewa, by decapitating her in the family home. What happened next is almost as chilling as the crime itself.

A Scene of Pure Horror

Ewa, a widow and mother of two young daughters, was found mutilated in the boiler room of her home. It was her 16-year-old daughter who made the grisly discovery—a moment that will haunt her for life. The victim had suffered multiple injuries, including stab wounds to her neck, chest, and abdomen, before being beheaded. The sheer brutality of the crime left the community in shock.

The Escape

After committing the murder, Paweł O. acted as if nothing had happened. He calmly took his sister’s car and fled the scene, driving toward Olsztyn. He was apprehended later that evening during a police manhunt. Upon his arrest, it was revealed that Paweł had amphetamines in his system, though investigators determined it wasn’t enough to fully explain his violent outburst.

A Shocking Revelation

As the investigation unfolded, more details emerged about the troubled relationship between the siblings, hinting at a long-brewing family conflict. Paweł, who had already been in trouble with the law, was charged with murder and several other offenses, including driving without a license and burglary of the vehicle he used to flee.

However, a new twist in the case has left the town reeling even further. After six weeks of psychiatric evaluation, experts have declared Paweł legally insane at the time of the crime. According to the report, his perception and thinking were so distorted by mental illness that he was unable to control his actions.

No Justice for Ewa?

On September 13, 2024, the prosecutor’s office received the comprehensive psychiatric report confirming Paweł’s insanity. With this finding, a request was made to discontinue the criminal investigation and have Paweł committed to a psychiatric institution instead of facing trial. Prosecutor Marcin Bagiński explained that while the facts of the case are beyond dispute, Paweł’s mental state leaves the legal system with only one option: institutionalization, not imprisonment.

A Community in Shock

As the request is now headed to the District Court in Płock, the family and the entire village are left to grapple with the senselessness of the tragedy. Ewa’s children, orphaned by this horrific act, are now facing life without their mother or any real sense of closure. The brutality of the crime, coupled with Paweł’s impending placement in a psychiatric facility, has left many asking: where is the justice in all of this?
